TOPS Wedding Issue has arrived!

I love Tops in Lex...
It is no lie haha. I think it is such a great magazine... and I love that people in Lex can't wait until the next issue comes out. It has been a wonderful place for me to advertise and brought me lots of great clients and contacts. With that said ... the Wedding issue is one of my faves! I die. Love it.

This issue is special for two reasons...
1. I have an AMAZING ad in it that I am so excited about
2. My dear friends, Emily & Bobby, got featured as one of the 17 weddings of the year!

Here is the cover of the mag so you can look for it at Kroger or Meijer or any advertiser should have some.
Here is my Ad :) Love love love it!!

Thank you to my wonderful "newly married" clients for the fab testimonials... they were so perfect!
It looks so much better in the magazine so once you pick one up just flip on over to page 6 :)

Emily & Bobby's wedding was so beautiful and I'm so happy for her that they got featured! Here are a few pics (taken by the wonderful Melanie Mauer) I stole from her facebook because I couldn't get the actual article to convert to a jpeg (can't wait til I can be a blogging genius and figure all this out lol).

And because her wedding was so fun I decided to post these as well :)

Congratulations Emily & Bobby!
I hope everyone will pick up the issue, especially if you know someone who is engaged!

Please don't forget I would love to help you, your friends, family, or co-workers find the perfect place to spend their "Happily Ever After!" My knowledge of the Lexington Real Estate Market and ability to serve my clients speaks for itself. I appreciate and love referrals! Thank you to all those who already have referred your friends to me, I am truly thankful.

Go CATS, lets beat W. Virginia and keep my bracket going strong!

A little green, a little blue ... plus my bracket picks!

What a day! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Hope your day was filled with green and BLUE haha, I loved that everywhere I went today people were decked out in their lucky green, while adding a touch of Kentucky Wildcat BLUE to support our CATS! GO BIG BLUE!

I started the day by getting up early to make sure the girls had their green outfits all together for school and then I made green pancakes with green sprinkles for breakfast LOL they look like vom I know, But...
the kids said they were "almost" as good as Mimi's (Chris's mom) so I will take that as a major compliment,

Deciding what to wear was a toughy because of green but needing to wear something for my CATS, so I found this tshirt at the mall and thought it was perfect!

I then got my son dressed in his green, he had a spa day and went to get his hair did and a bath today! (this picture was taken before that when he was still a little greasy, so he was being camera shy!)

Then I gathered all his "green toys" for him to play with today .... (He knows its St. Patricks Day in case you were wondering, yes he is a genius)

Went to Harry's and watched the first half of the game ... thank goodness we pulled it through... sheesh! With that said, I have completed a bracket for the office, all on my own, no help from Chris whate-so-ever, and I am kinda proud of it (being a little optimistic on it but hey thats ok lol)
Well there it is, my bracket. I can't wait to highlight my winning teams (yes I have OCD) and see how far I can get... with the way we played today it's going to be a long road, haha! Chris almost had a heart attack, he jumped up and hit the edge of the bed with his hand in excitement when B.Knight made that last shot, in doing so almost gave moi a heart attack of my own!

I'm sure I will be updating everyone on my bracket, I'll post a cute pic of Frankie after his new hair-do ... and leave you with this, which I read and loved...

The Art of Racing in the Rain

A few weeks ago Bob discovered The Art of Racing in the Rain among his papers. He had been given it by a friend whose dog, Lily, a Boston Terrier, he really liked. Somehow he hadn't read it and neither had I. But all things happen for a reason.

So I read it - set in Seattle, which made it fun, and about Enzo, a mixed something or other who was a very old dog and getting ready to die. The novel (by Garth Stein) is told from Enzo's point of view. And if you read it, I challenge you to ever look at a dog the same way again.

I started noticing Koko more - how she moved slowly, laboriously, took a long time to wake up and slept about 23 hours a day. She still knew when dinnertime rolled around and could be counted on to find me at 6:00 every night. Then she'd go back to sleep until it was time to go to bed.

Koko came to us through another agent, Hattie Peters. I worked at Gallinger when I started, and during that first year my mother moved in with us. Her dog, Dulcinea, passed on almost immediately and left her with Hermes, a Himalayan with attitude. It soon became apparent that my mother needed another dog, and we put the word out. Hattie's daughter volunteered to give us Koko, then 10 years old and getting a bit lost in the shuffle of kids and other dogs. She was little - about 12 pounds - and a "pomma-poo," or "mutt" as our vet, Doc Schnabel, pronounced.

Koko spent about three years at my mother's side getting petted and loved. They did everything together, and when my mother had to go to St. Camillus for extended stays, Koko would come and visit. She became a favorite on the unit.

My mother passed away in March of 2006 and Koko came to us. She quickly showed us that she would accommodate us and what we did. She ran with us and Boo, took extraordinary long walks through the fields or glen, and generally ran the much younger Boo into the ground. But if she saw Mr. Walsh at the lake, then in his 90s, slowly walking down the road, she would fall in with him at his feet, go at his pace.

She was a social dog. She had been raised on Otisco Lake and knew how to be a "camp" dog. She regularly made the rounds - the Browns gave out treats, Mary Kay kept Moses' food outside on her deck. The Gromes were always good for a party - in fact, one night I found her there, curled up in a stranger's lap, having walked in and made herself at home.

She didn't know she was small. Bob loves the story of her dragging a dead fish along the shore, proudly bringing it home. She road on my lap in the kayak, attacked the three goldies who took walks down the road, and always defended our property from high above on the deck. She would say hello to any dog she encountered on our early morning walks in the Village.

She survived two mastectomies, many teeth-cleanings, several eye infections, and a bout with a cancer that grew quickly under her tongue last May and threatened to return. She did not conquer her kidneys, however, and we lost her on Sunday.

We all agree that she is up there with my mother who is showing her off to my Aunt Grace. She has taken another walk with Mr. Walsh, and found where the treats are stashed. It's eternal sunshine, so there's no worry about finding a good place in the grass to lie down, if my mother ever lets her feet touch the grass, that is.

She will be missed. I was lucky to have the last couple weeks to stay home with her, doze with her in the chair by the fire, take her with Bob for one last walk into the fields.

Enzo helped, too. He proposed that dogs go on to become human, and if there were ever one dog who should, it would be Koko. She gave so very much to so very many people.

Every Party Needs a Cake...

Saying that I like to plan a party is a major understatement.... I live for planning for a party, I make excuses to come up with a way to have a party, and if I am being totally honest, since I have started this blog world, I have been thinking of when the next party will be that I can throw just so that I can blog about it! It's just so fun for me to plan something, put it together, think of all the cute little fun details that make it different, and then watch it come together and see how happy and fun it is for everyone, especially whoever the lucky person deserving the party at that time is! :)

With that said... several people have seen some of the cakes I have made, I mean bought lol (yea right I wish I could make cakes like these!) and have asked me numerous times where all the great cakes have come from!! So I wanted to share some of them with you...from the absolute BEST cake place in Lexington... Confused Confections Bakehouse , visit their facebook fanpage to see loads more pics and ideas for your next party! Their cakes not only look fab, but taste wonderful too! You will not be let down, I can promise you that I never have! And the cake is usually the hit of the party!

This was the first cake I ever got from them .... and how could I have not gone back after this masterpiece? Wow! I was blown away! This was for Jake's 3rd Bday party which obviously was "Super Hero" themed with his 3 faves... Batman, Superman & Spiderman and boy was it a HIT! I gave her an idea of what I wanted and they exceeded my expectations! Each layer was a different flavor and it was so yummy! I know you will ask, either think I'm crazy or not lol but I believe it was $120 ? Which in my opinion was not a bad price considering when I priced it at Caramanda's it was over $300! Um... no thank you.

Next I was helping plan a bridal shower for Lisa, Chris's sister, who wanted to be surprised with knowing if the baby was going to be a boy or girl ... so the party planning had to be a bit more creative since no pink or blue...

I was in charge of the cake, yay, so this is what I brought.... how cute is this? Another awesome job they did! A Pea in a Pod! :) Totally unisex and so flippin cute! The body & head were made from rice krispy balls, the bottom huge part was all cake. Everyone loved it! :)

I think next, we held Connor's 1st Birthday party at the house... Chrissy did a wonderful job of planning it, a clown and all...great food, great time! I wanted to get the cake for him, Chrissy & I collaborated on what she wanted and this is what we ended with... cutest thing ever....

Of course we couldn't pass up the little matching "smash cake" especially just for Connor! They did a fantastic job, yet again, so by the third cake, needless to say I became their #1 FAN!

PS. this is the after-math of the smash cake, lived up to its name haha

My dear little friend Kelly was engaged, woohoo, whats next but a shower of course? Who wanted to be in chrarge of the cake? ME! Pick ME! I've got it down pat now... I am the cake bringer-er to any party!

Another yummy, beautiful creation! Yay for the now Mrs. Isaccs!

Sadly (because it's been almost 5 months w/ no party!), the last big party I threw was for Ella & Ava's birthday in October which was right before Halloween... so they decided to have a costume party. I wanted this one to be the best yet, and I think it was...

AHHH i loved loved loved it! So perfect! Obsessed. We even added their own little cakes too ...

So they could have something to blow out on their own for their special days!

So cute! They loved it!

Now I am dreaming of when my next cake purchase/party planning date will be... and I am thinking maybe my brother's 21st birthday in April... this could be a crazy cake LOL watch out!

Happy Party Planning! :)

Skaneateles Real Estate - The Bi-Monthly Update

Ah, spring! I took a lovely walk today by Hoopes Park in Auburn, just across the street from a rental property I listed. Such a great area - I almost miss being in a village or city. The sun was warm even though I was bundled up with my heated vest, a hat and gloves....It will come!

There are currently 104 single family homes listed as active on the multiple listing service in the Skaneateles area. Thirty of these are in the village. Six "new" properties came on the market in the past two weeks. Three are re-lists of homes that have been on the market before for varying lengths of time, and three are new. A very pretty home - think curb appeal - with renovations completed on the interior came on in the mid-$300,000 range. Another small home - also village - is in the mid-$100,000 and is very sweet. Not too far out of the village an almost new home with a finished basement is now available at the "hurry up and buy me NOW" price in the low $400,000s. My prediction, if the weather continues to get springier, is that there will be twice as many - I will bet 12! - homes being listed in the next 15 days.

The contingent homes didn't change, nor did the "under contract do not show" numbers. The pending homes, however, bring in two newcomers - both little houses in the village. I look forward to seeing what they close for in the future months.

The biggest change were the closed homes. There are now 7 for the year, and three of them are new. A small place in need of a great deal of work closed just above $50,000, but that was above the list price. A pretty home on the village edge settled for a little bit under their list price, in the low $300,000 range. A big home built out in a community not too far from town was finished in the low $600,000. Gorgeous!

I thought I'd take a look at lots and land this week. There are currently 56 lots listed of varying sizes. In the past two years only 18 have sold and closed, and except for five, all were either in Butters Farm or Parkside. One was listed as waterfront, but in Lakeview Circle. We have many fine builders in our area and really beautiful land - I hope this trend changes a bit, but it is rational following my discussions on gas prices and return to village living. If you are one of the people who want to strike out and get away from it all - have I got the land for you!

Happy Spring!

Decisions, Decisions?

It's Monday!...so you can already guess what is on my mind, making me count down the hours until 8pm!

I am a little depressed it is the last night... however I can not WAIT for Brad to choose Emily :)  A little too confident? I think not. How could he not choose her? Maybe we should talk about Brad for a moment...

Ahhhh-mazing! Love him. Can not believe all the people that trash talked him just because he was on national TV and did not choose a girl because he didn't love either one of them? Give me a break people! He did the right thing, bottom line. And I love him ha. Listening to him talk is the best part, love his accent.

Oh sweet little Emily....
Don't you want to be her friend? I feel like a already am (Chris makes so much fun of me by the way.) She is so genuine and friendly... and not to mention absolutely gorgeous! I just love her. Her story is so beautiful and touching ... if you have never heard it (you might have been under a rock? jk) you can read it here. She is such a trooper too... going on a group date to a RACE TRACK, and actually getting in the car and racing after what she has been through...so strong!

I just know Brad loves her... he is so sweet to her... just look at them together...

Brad about Emily...
"You make me lose words. I feel like an idiot around you."

Brad to Emily ...
"I think you have an extreme amount of class and sophistication."

And how sweet is this with little Ricky? Picture Perfect!

I don't even really need to talk about Chantal haha bless her heart... I tried to like her a couple of times, I really did! But it is hard for me to like her when she did this on the first night, her first impression with Brad -

A slap across the face? From "all the women in America" ?? Not this woman! Sorry sister!
Kinda ridic in my opinion. Sorry if you like her. :(

So who do you think Brad will choose? Two, totally opposite choices here (doesn't it always seem that way? They are always opposites at the end!)

I really hope that when Brad is standing there with his last rose...

Looking so cute and handsome... That he will make the right choice and we will end with seeing this...

Cheers to tonight! Hopefully my prediction won't be wrong :( Can't wait to hear everything from "After the Rose" too! Ahhh! Happy Monday!

PS. Look who had her very first sleepover this weekend and she was so cute... have to show pic :)
She was so excited about this cute bag that we had to show it off!

The start of a new beginning.... :)

I am beyond words excited to share with you the debut of my NEW BLOGGGGY! For those of you who know me well, you will totally understand the thought of me having to keep up with, or commit to, one more think in my life is a tad bit overwhelming :) However, this is something I have wanted to do for oh so long, and now the dream has become a reality!!

This blog will be fun, informative, personal & professional, truthful and just somewhere I hope my friends, family, co-workers and whomever will check out from time to time to get the latest info in "my world!" I love pictures! So don't be mad if I have an overload of them!

For the last couple of weeks, with the help of the AMAZING PinkLouLou this blog has been created just for you! And I am so happy to finally be able to get started! Please share it with your friends, or anyone you think may be into blogging right now and would like to follow! Please check out the tabs on the right hand side (next to the awesome bling buttons!) to familiarize yourself with the two sections on my blog...mostly personal, with some business mixed in!

With the weather being so beautiful outside today, I have gotten some definite Spring Fever!!! Anyone else? Finally.... some sunshine!! So I wanted to share with you a little bit of cute patty-whacks that you can do to either give your home a quick Spring update, or get it ready to sell if you are thinking of putting it on the market... these things are just my favorite ways to add a little bit of new life to your home...and don't involve tearing out cabinets, ripping down walls, etc.
Spring Fever
Ta-da! Spring Cuteness!
1. Can we put out flowers yet? Flower boxes or planters are my first favorite thing to do for Spring. No question about it. Love flowers, love how they make your home look.

2. Get a new front door mat. They even sell cute ones at Lowes now! It gives a fresh look to your front entrance and will make you feel good when you walk up to it. A clean outside makes for a clean inside ;)

3. Get a new decorative chair! Pier 1 or Ballards have so many to choose from. Try a print you wouldn't normally do, like paisley, houndstooth, animal print or something fun!

4. Invest in some new throw pillows! For your sofa or your bedroom... we all know after a while they get lumpy and yuck. My favorite place to get them currently is Pier 1 or Home Goods! Target also has some good options sometimes.

5. Put some new knobs are your kitchen cabinets! Quick, Easy, Inexpensive. Bronze are my fave!

6. If you don't have 2 inch wood faux blinds, they will be worth the investment of getting if you ever think of selling your house. Mini-blinds just don't do the trick these days (sorry friends!). They average about $25 per window at Lowes, so do a few at a time if you need to. Start with the front of your house so they will look nice from the street.

7. Recently as I have been showing different homes, I have noticed more people taking down the blah, regular flat mirrors in their half baths or master baths, and replacing with just a nice hanging mirror! BOY let me tell you, what a difference it makes! I love it!

8. Lastly, and probably what would be considered the biggest and most time oriented task of all of these, paint your walls neutral. Neutral is always always always best. Whether selling or not, it gives your home a sense of cleanliness and a crisp look. Sherwin Williams "Latte" is a personal fave of mine.

There it is! My Spring Favorites!

And just for fun .... I have to share... we came to Louisville last night and got to visit Chris's nephew... Baby Jack :) Love him! How cute is he?? I could eat his face. Period. So precious.

Shew... I did it! First blog post, check! Thank you so much for reading! PLEASE FOLLOW ME! :)
And don't forget to set your clocks forward tonight... yes, we lose an hour of sleep BUT no more darkness at 5pm! Hallelujah!
